Grey Cup Breakfast

The Spirit of Edmonton Grey Cup Breakfast has grown significantly since we started hosting it over 40 years ago. The breakfast starts at 8:00 with a full buffet and our extremely popular Sluice Juice. We can’t tell you how the juice is mixed or the secret ingredients, but back in the day a canoe paddle was used! Our mixologists have gone high tech and now use a 500 gallon tank and pump system.

Our entertainment at the breakfast includes outstanding performances by CFL Cheer Teams, The Castrol Spirit Dancers and Pipe Bands. You will also see unusual breakfast attire worn by our repeat guests. There are numerous door prizes and non-stop entertainment throughout the event, so much so it’s difficult to find the time to eat! If that isn’t enough to get you going, a live band will help you to dance off the calories of buffet and the Sluice Juice will get you primed for the GREY CUP PARADE!

It wasn't easy growing up the oldest of 14 siblings. Sociable was always looking out for his little brothers and sisters and knew that in order to support them all, he would need to make it big. At an early age he discovered his talent for entertaining after trying out for the football team. He failed to make the cut, but had everyone howling with laughter at his actions.

Sociable has been the official mascot of the Spirit of Edmonton since 2012, making his first appearance at the Grey Cup in Toronto. Born out of the SOE logo, Sociable represents the friendly, welcoming atmosphere that is customary at Spirit of Edmonton events. His namesake represents a tradition; the "Sociable" cry can be heard every year, turning strangers into family over a drink and a salute. Never one to shy away from a hug, dance or photo opportunity, Sociable travels with the Spirit each and every year. He parties so hard, in fact, that he hibernates in Edmonton from December until the next Grey Cup.
