Community Involvement
Our community involvement is a proud one that reaches outside the borders of Edmonton and Alberta. In the past we have raised funds for charitable groups in Edmonton and the host Grey Cup City, Cops for Cancer, The Firefighters Burn Treatment Society, Cross Cancer Institute and various sports clubs. This year in Calgary our approach is no different. You will recognize the charities we support via our media show, the volunteers behind the bar who represent those charities. When you see members of these charities we’d like you to pass the “SPIRIT” and support them.
Last year during our Grey Cup Breakfast we crossed international borders and time zones with a LIVE web broadcast with our Armed Forces in Kandahar, Afghanistan. The breakfast crowd was emotionally stunned that we made the effort to include one of our long standing volunteers Ron Anderson at the breakfast who could not be in attendance due to deployment. The boys were given a standing ovation by all in attendance that included the Premier Mr. Ed Stelmach. I think for once the Premier was lost for words. You’ll see photographs of OUR “Spirit” flag waving proudly on the Parade grounds in Kandahar shortly.
